Vedic Astrology in Portland, OR
Where the chart meets the body.
Mindy Meyers brings Vedic Astrology, the ancient science of timing and pattern, into her Sellwood massage & yoga practice. While “a sprinkle of Vedic Astrology” is always present in her bodywork or yogic offerings, a deeper drawing from your own personal chart can be read and woven as another layer of the body itself: the timing it is moving through, the patterns it is holding, the long arcs that shape what is asking for attention now. The result is a rare offering in Portland, where ancient wisdom and decades of clinical bodywork meet on the same table.
What Vedic Astrology is, and why it lives in this practice
Vedic Astrology, or Jyotisha, is the ancient traditional Indian science of timing, nature, and the deeper patterns that shape a life. Differing from Western Astrology, it uses the Sidereal zodiac which is based in astronomy or the actual position of the stars in the sky and offers a more nuanced insight into each zodiac sign by way of the 27 Nakshatras (star contellations). It is a study less about prediction and more about understanding your nature and the territory or possibilities you are moving through.
Mindy came to Vedic Astrology the same way she came to bodywork: through her own body and challenges. Lost in grief after losing her loved ones and sustaining a severe neck injury due to being rear ended, it was through a Jyotish reading from Dr. Katy Jane that she was gratefully reminded her of who she was and what she came here to do. Mindy is currently in formal study and continues to deepen her practice. Her Jyotish work is woven into her bodywork sessions and yogic offerings incorporating larger conversations about how a body is meant to move through a life.
The Vedic Bodywork Session is currently the only way to work with Mindy's Vedic Astrology practice one-on-one. It is also the most immersive experience she offers.
Here is how it works. When you book, you provide your birth date, birth time, and birth location. Before your session, Mindy prepares your Vedic chart. When you arrive, she opens with a brief reading of what the chart reveals, then moves to the table for 90 minutes of bodywork shaped by both what your body presents that day and what the chart suggests is asking for attention.
There is nobody else in Portland offering this exact convergence: a Licensed Massage Therapist with 27+ years of clinical bodywork who is also reading your Vedic chart and letting it inform the work on the table.
The Vedic Bodywork Session 90 minutes · $275 Birth date, time, and location required at booking.

Why this practice matters in Mindy's work
Mindy's bodywork, yoga, dance, and astrology practice are not separate businesses. They are four expressions of a single conversation: how does a body, this body, want to be moved, supported, and lived in?
A massage session works on the physical layer. A yoga session teaches the body how to organize itself. A dance session opens the conversation between presence and movement. Vedic Astrology offers context, the timing, the arcs, the shakti power that shapes what your body is being asked to do right now.
Many of her clients work with her across multiple offerings. The Vedic Bodywork Session is often the first place that convergence becomes visible.
People who are curious about Vedic Astrology but want to begin with a practitioner who is also a bodyworker, so the chart is not just an idea, but something felt.
Longtime astrology students who want to explore the Vedic system specifically, with someone who is in active study herself.
People who feel drawn to ancient systems of knowledge and want a practitioner who treats those systems with the depth and humility they deserve.
Anyone in Sellwood, Westmoreland, Eastmoreland, Milwaukie, or SE Portland who has been searching for a Vedic Astrology practitioner and has not found the right fit yet.
Your Questions, Answered-
Vedic Astrology, also called Jyotish, is the traditional astrology of India, dating back over 5,000 years. Unlike Western astrology, it uses the sidereal zodiac (the actual position of the stars) closer related to astronomy. The Nakshatras (star constellations) offer a more nuanced lens for each of the signs. It is a practice of pattern recognition, timing, and understanding the deeper architecture of a life.

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which is based on the seasons. Vedic Astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is based on the actual position of the stars in the sky. As a result, your sun sign in Vedic Astrology is often different from your Western sun sign.

Vedic Astrology charts are calculated using the exact moment of birth, including the date, location, and time. It’s a snapshot of the sky the moment you arrived and the time is crucial, especially for proper moon placement and specific Nakshatra’s (star constellations) that offer detail to your signs.

The Guide
Vedic Astrology. The deeper map beneath the body.
Movement is the first language. Everything else grew from it.
Mindy is a student and practitioner of Vedic Astrology (Jyotish), the ancient Indian system of understanding timing, nature, and the deeper patterns that shape a life. She approaches it the way she approaches all of her work: through the body first. What makes her practice rare is that she can read your chart and then put her hands on you, connecting what the stars say to what your tissue holds. Very few astrologers understand the body. Very few massage therapists understand the chart. Mindy holds both.
She weaves Vedic Astrology into all of her yoga teaching as what she calls a sprinkle: the day's lunar transit, the nakshatra, the shakti of the moment. For clients who want more, she offers The Vedic Bodywork Session, 90 minutes of clinical massage preceded by a brief chart reading, with the bodywork shaped by both what your body presents and what the chart reveals. She also offers a monthly Restorative Yoga with Massage and Vedic Wisdom session for small groups of four. If you are curious about what your chart might say to your body, she would love to explore that with you.
